The General Surgery Residency at Bayonne Medical Center under CarePoint Health offers a diverse range of cases across various specialties, including colorectal, breast, pediatric bariatric, vascular, thoracic, plastics, and surgical oncology. The program utilizes cutting-edge minimally invasive technology, with two Da Vinci XIs for robotic surgery, and multiple attending physicians with robot privileges performing cases. The program features a General Surgery Simulation Curriculum to enhance clinical and technical education, a dedicated Sim lab at Bayonne Medical Center, and all residents are required to be FLS/FES certified in addition to ATLS certification. PGY-2 residents must pass the USMLE/COMLEX III requirement before starting their PGY-3 year. The program emphasizes academic and research performance by providing research opportunities, mentorship, attending-led study sessions, and monthly resident meetings.
