Franciscan Health Olympia Fields Program

The Radiology Residency Program at Franciscan Health Olympia Fields is an ACGME-accredited 5-year categorical residency that aims to train physicians to become proficient diagnostic radiologists. Located in the south Chicago suburbs, the program benefits from an excellent caseload, favorable faculty-to-resident ratio, access to state-of-the-art imaging equipment, and close proximity to renowned medical institutions. Residents also receive training at affiliate institutions including UChicago Medicine Ingalls Memorial, Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago, and the American Institute for Radiologic Pathology.

The program includes a structured curriculum with rotations starting in the PGY-1 year. Residents engage in a variety of rotations focusing on foundational radiology examinations and progress to more advanced procedures and subspecialties as they advance in training. The program also emphasizes research, requiring residents to complete at least one original research project for publication or presentation. Additionally, residents participate in various didactic activities such as case conferences, tumor boards, journal clubs, and monthly collaborative conferences.

The program offers support for the ESIR pathway, allowing residents interested in interventional radiology to receive additional training. Research opportunities are available through affiliations with the Radiology Partners Research Institute and the High Value Practice Academic Alliance. The program welcomes International Medical Graduates (IMGs) but does not offer Visa sponsorship. The application process includes submission of a personal statement, three letters of recommendation, USMLE scores, and eligibility for temporary Illinois medical licensure. Residents are expected to meet high academic and professional standards, preparing them to excel in the field of radiology.
