The LSUHSC Diagnostic Radiology Residency Program at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans is a fully-accredited, four-year program designed to prepare residents for certification by the American Board of Radiology. The program focuses on balancing practical experience and didactic instruction to train competent and clinically-oriented diagnostic radiologists.
Residents have the opportunity to rotate through core radiology sections multiple times, providing them with valuable practical experience before the Core board examination. The curriculum is structured to cover subspecialty areas in a two-year cycle, ensuring exposure to the entire curriculum at least twice during residency.
LSUHSC is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, including PACS, voice recognition, and advanced imaging systems. The program is based at the University Medical Center New Orleans, a new 446-bed acute care hospital with a Level 1 trauma center, offering diverse and interesting cases for residents to work on.
The program fosters a large faculty to resident ratio, providing individualized attention and graded responsibility. Residents have the opportunity to get involved in subspecialization during their senior year and are supported in preparing for the Core and Certifying examinations.
