The Naval Medical Center (Portsmouth) Program offers an Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery residency program that is fully accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). The program is a 5-year training leading to board eligibility in Otolaryngology. Residents will gain exposure to general Otolaryngology and various subspecialties including Pediatric Otolaryngology, Neuro-Otology, Facial Plastic Surgery, Rhinology, and Head and Neck Cancer Surgery.

This program primarily accepts 2-3 residents per year group from the Army or Air Force and is based at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, MD. Residents will have access to advanced facilities and equipment, including state-of-the-art otolaryngology clinics and operating rooms. Additionally, residents will rotate through various affiliated institutions for a comprehensive training experience.

The program emphasizes clinical rotations, research training, and academic achievement. Residents are expected to complete a research project during their residency. Many program graduates have pursued prestigious otolaryngology subspecialty fellowships across the United States.
