The Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital Diagnostic Radiology Residency Program is structured to provide comprehensive training in diagnostic and interventional radiology. The program aims to prepare residents for independent practice in both inpatient and outpatient settings, setting the stage for further subspecialty training. Residents are also trained to act as radiology consultants and uphold professionalism.

This ACGME-accredited program accepts four residents annually through the National Resident Matching Program. Applicants must have completed at least one year of clinical training in a U.S. ACGME-accredited program and passed USMLE Step 3 prior to starting the radiology residency. The program supports J1 Visas.

The curriculum includes rotations in various subspecialties, such as ultrasound, abdominal imaging, musculoskeletal imaging, neuroradiology, interventional radiology, and more. Residents engage in conferences, including the Radiology-Pathology Correlation Conferences and Tumor Board Conferences.

Equipment available within the department includes advanced imaging technologies like CT scanners, MRI machines, digital radiologic and fluoroscopic rooms, and digital mammography suites.

The faculty includes experienced radiologists led by Program Director Dr. Bernard Chow. Residents can benefit from interactions with a diverse and knowledgeable group of faculty members during their training.
