The St. Luke's Hospital - Anderson Campus Transitional Year Residency Program aims to provide a strong foundation in patient care in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Residents will gain knowledge in evaluating and treating hospitalized patients, managing ambulatory medical issues, preventive medicine, and health maintenance. The program offers flexible elective time, tailored curriculum, a supportive educational environment, and exposure to various clinical experiences. Residents also have the opportunity to interact with residents from other programs.
The curriculum consists of 13 4-week blocks, including inpatient medicine, critical care medicine, emergency medicine, and elective rotations in internal medicine subspecialties. The program emphasizes lifestyle medicine, including nutrition, physical activity, stress reduction, and sleep management.
The Transitional Year Program at St. Luke's - Anderson Campus collaborates with various departments and offers interactive conferences, web-based learning, and simulation training. The program fosters a friendly and supportive environment where questions are encouraged, and assistance is readily available from staff involved in graduate medical education.
Applicants are required to be board-eligible or board-certified in internal medicine. Licensure in the State of Pennsylvania is necessary before the training begins. Graduates of foreign medical schools must provide documentation for evaluation. The program does not sponsor J-1 or H-1 visas and does not offer observerships or externships.
The application deadline is December 1st, and interviews are held from November to early February. The program prefers candidates who pass USMLE exams on the first attempt, have US experience, and offers up to eight positions through the National Residency Matching Program (NRMP).
