Tulane University Program

Tulane University's Otolaryngology Residency Program is a fully accredited five-year program that includes one year of structured general surgery and four years of otolaryngology-head and neck surgery. Based at East Jefferson General Hospital (EJGH), the program offers rotations at Ochsner Medical Center, University Medical Center, Touro Infirmary, and the New Orleans VA Medical Center.

The Department of Otolaryngology at Tulane University emphasizes diversity, equity, and inclusion within the program. The application deadline for this program is September 28th, and all applications must be submitted through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). Resident applicant interviews are conducted virtually on specific dates, with virtual sessions held to accommodate applicants.

Residents at Tulane University have the opportunity to provide care to over 35,000 outpatients and more than 4,000 inpatients annually, receiving comprehensive clinical training. The residents are given graduated responsibility in patient management throughout their training, culminating in a chief resident role in their final year.

The program offers various educational conferences and sessions targeted at providing residents with a rich didactic experience, including conferences on audiology, temporal bone, current literature, patient safety, and more. Attendance at these conferences is mandatory for in-town residents.
