University of Colorado Program

The University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus offers an Independent Interventional Radiology Program. The program is dedicated to providing exceptional patient care through innovative techniques. They focus on comprehensive educational experiences for trainees, emphasizing the development of future leaders in Interventional Radiology.

Trainees in the program engage in a high caseload of 1200 to 1800 cases per year, covering various vascular, oncologic, hepatobiliary, and other disorders. They also have exposure to pediatric and neurointerventional procedures, multidisciplinary conferences, outpatient clinics, and noninvasive vascular imaging. Residents have the opportunity to rotate through different teaching hospitals to enhance their learning.

The University of Colorado IR Residency program is structured to support board certification in Interventional Radiology. Both ESIR and non-ESIR candidates are encouraged to apply through ERAS. The program follows AAMC recommendations by conducting all interviews virtually to ensure efficiency.
