University of North Carolina Hospitals Program

The University of North Carolina Hospitals Program offers an ACGME-accredited Integrated Interventional Radiology Residency program that accepts one position each year for the 5-year program. The program requires a PGY1 year and integrates core Diagnostic Radiology curriculum in the first three years, with a focus on Interventional Radiology in the final two years. Residents gain experience in a wide range of vascular and non-vascular interventions, such as diagnostic and therapeutic angiography, embolization, venous sampling, and various procedures.

The program emphasizes daily lectures, case-based learning, multidisciplinary conferences, educational resources, and resident attendance at important events such as the American Institute of Radiologic Pathology. UNC Hospitals support both ESIR and non-ESIR candidates and provide opportunities for electives in different specialties.
