The Laboratory Genetics and Genomics Fellowship at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center (UTSWMC) in Dallas is a two-year ACGME-accredited program designed to produce laboratory geneticists competent in identifying genetic defects, developing assays to detect genetic alterations, interpreting results, and effectively communicating findings to non-geneticist care providers.

Candidates with a medical degree (M.D. or D.O.) must have completed an ACGME-accredited residency program in pathology, pediatrics, or internal medicine. Ph.D. candidates must hold a doctoral degree in genetics, biology, or chemistry. The fellowship program offers training in clinical cytogenetics, clinical molecular genetics, and other laboratory areas. Fellows spend a significant amount of time in core training areas and engage in scholarly activities throughout the program.
