Beaumont Hospital, Dearborn Program

The Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Program at Beaumont Hospital, Farmington Hills & Dearborn is designed to provide a comprehensive learning experience that prepares residents to meet the demands of contemporary orthopaedic surgery practice in urban and suburban communities. The program aims to train residents to provide excellent, high-quality orthopaedic care to a diverse population, emphasizing patient- and family-centered care.

Application Requirements:

• Must be a graduate of an LCME or AOA approved medical school
• USMLE (Step 1, Step 2 CK, and Step CS) are required before the interview
• Passing score for COMLEX required
• Participation in ERAS for application submission

Mission Statement:

The mission is to train Orthopaedic Surgery Residents to provide excellent, high-quality care to a diverse population. Residents are prepared to meet contemporary practice demands in urban and suburban communities, focusing on patient- and family-centered care.

Curriculum:

• Affiliated with Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine
• Monthly COGMET program meetings
• Daily orthopaedic educational series
• Participation in anatomy courses and basic science lectures
• Encouraged attendance at various educational meetings and clubs

Faculty:

All teaching functions are under the direction of board-certified and board-eligible faculty members in Orthopaedic Surgery. The program director, vice-chairman, and secretary oversee resident training, with a Residency Training Committee constantly evaluating and enhancing the program.

Research:

Residents are encouraged to pursue and publish research papers related to musculoskeletal injuries or diseases. An annual mandatory resident paper presentation is required, except for the first year. Residents may also submit a poster presentation in place of a paper.
