The Forest Park Hospital Program offers a Transitional Year Program (TYP) designed to prepare PGY-1 residents for future medical or surgical specialty categorical residencies. The curriculum complies with ACGME guidelines and includes rotations in various specialties such as internal medicine, critical care, ambulatory medicine, emergency medicine, psychiatry, and surgery. Electives in different specialties are also available, including research electives.
Application requirements for the program include applying through ERAS, submitting applications between September 1st and November 30th, having USMLE Test Scores averaging 220 or better, providing three letters of recommendation from the US, and being a recent US School Graduate within the last two years. The program does not sponsor any visas for candidates.
Invitations for interviews are sent to candidates by November 30th. The program receives approximately 325 applications each year and interviews 75 candidates for the 7 available Transitional Year spots.
