Public health and general preventive medicine - Silver Spring, MD | ACGME Code: 3801021002

The National Capital Consortium Public Health and General Preventive Medicine Residency program at the Uniformed Services University is a two-year program designed for military physicians. The first year focuses on completing requirements for a Master of Public Health or Master of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene degree. In the second year, residents have diverse rotation opportunities within both civilian and military public health organizations, including locations such as the Armed Forces Health Surveillance Branch and public health support commands. The program aims to develop competent, board-certified physicians equipped to apply population-based methods to promote health and prevent disease.

Application is open to active duty physicians who have completed (or are completing) a PGY1 year and have passed all three steps of either the USMLE or COMLEX. Civilian physicians willing to come onto active duty and meeting the same requirements can also apply. Applicants should contact their service-specific specialty leader/consultant and the residency to arrange interviews.
