Toledo Hospital Program

The University of Toledo Family Medicine Residency Program is designed to prepare medical graduates to become well-rounded family physicians. Accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), the program enrolls six residents per class, offering extensive training in both community and university hospital settings. This program stands out for its broad spectrum of educational experiences, fostering a supportive learning environment conducive to resident development.

Key Features:

• The program provides comprehensive primary care training, including access to the largest-ever center for Medicare and Medicaid services (CMS) initiative, Comprehensive Primary Care Plus (CPC+), emphasizing team-based care, integrated collaborative care, and quality improvement projects.
• Residents experience a blend of real-world and academic training across various clinical rotation sites including the University of Toledo Medical Center, ProMedica Toledo Hospital, and ProMedica Russell J. Ebeid Children's Hospital.
• A strong focus on community involvement, including mandatory volunteer hours at the CommunityCare Clinic (CCC), allows residents to gain "hands-on" clinical experience while serving under-insured populations.

Application Requirements:

• Only ERAS applications are accepted, with a November 1st deadline.
• Applicants should provide three recent letters of reference from U.S. physicians, medical school transcripts, a personal statement, and a valid ECFMG certificate if applicable.
• USMLE scores for Step 1, Step 2 CK, and Step 2 CS are required, with a preference for candidates who have scored at least 220 on first attempts or a 500 on COMLEX Levels 1 and 2CE, with Level 2 PE passed on the first attempt.
• Preference is given to recent medical school graduates (within the last three years), and those with ties to Ohio or significant U.S. clinical experience.
