The Child Neurology residency program at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) is located mainly in Le Bonheur Children's Hospital. Residents also rotate through St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and the Memphis Newborn Center at Regional One Health. The outpatient clinic is housed at Le Bonheur Children's Hospital.
The curriculum is designed to provide comprehensive exposure to various pediatric neurologic diseases such as epilepsy, neuromuscular disorders, neuro-oncology, headache, spasticity, developmental disorders, autism, metabolic and storage disorders, and muscular dystrophy. The program offers a 5-year categorical position, with 2 years in pediatrics followed by 3 years in child neurology. Only one application is required for child neurology.
Residents will have opportunities to rotate through adult neurology at Methodist University Hospital, Regional One Health, and the VA Medical Center. There are also elective rotations in various subspecialties like neurosurgery, neuro-oncology, and child psychiatry.
