The Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Integrated Residency Program at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine offers a comprehensive training experience for medical school graduates aspiring to become skilled plastic surgeons. The program emphasizes training expert physicians in various subspecialties of plastic surgery, such as burn surgery, cleft and craniofacial plastic surgery, wound healing, aesthetic and reconstructive breast surgery, hand surgery, and more.

Rotations cover a wide range of specialties including hand surgery, burn surgery, craniofacial and pediatric plastic surgery, cosmetic and reconstructive procedures, among others.
Research involvement is encouraged, and residents participate in various research projects coordinated by the Director of Clinical Research. The program also offers opportunities to attend conferences and presentations to stay updated on the latest developments in plastic surgery.
The Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Residency Program at VCU Health participates in the NRMP match and accepts two new residents annually. The application process includes submitting required materials such as medical school transcripts, letters of recommendation, personal statement, and USMLE reports. Applicants should be licensed or eligible to practice medicine in Virginia.
