The West Virginia University Neurology Residency Training Program offers 8 categorical positions with training for 48 months. Residents complete 12 months of their intern year in Internal Medicine at Ruby Memorial Hospital followed by 36 months of Neurology training. The program provides a balanced and comprehensive inpatient and outpatient training environment with a large patient volume, including 2,500 inpatient and 22,000 outpatient evaluations.
Inpatient rotations cover General Neurology Ward, Stroke Ward, Epilepsy Monitoring Unit, pediatric neurology, and Neurocritical Care Unit. Outpatient training includes Continuity Clinic where residents manage neurology patients longitudinally. There are elective opportunities in various subspecialties.
The program is located in Morgantown, WV, with ample opportunities for outdoor activities. The department is expanding rapidly, offering new fellowships and enhanced patient care facilities. The curriculum aims to train competent and compassionate neurologists.
Requirements include graduation from an accredited medical school, application through ERAS, personal statement, three letters of recommendation, passing Step 1 USMLE or COMLEX Level 1, and J1 visa for International Medical Graduates. All applicants must be within 5 years of graduation. The deadline for applications is December 1st.
