Brown University Program

Peds/Psych/Child-adolescent psych (components individually accredited) - Providence, RI | ACGME Code: 7304344005 | NRMP Code: 1677730C0

The Triple Board Residency Program at Brown University is a comprehensive five-year training program that combines pediatrics, psychiatry, and child and adolescent psychiatry. The program enrolls three trainees at the PGY-1 level each year.

During the five-year curriculum, residents undergo 24 months of training in pediatrics, 18 months in general psychiatry, and 18 months in child and adolescent psychiatry. The curriculum is designed to provide a cohesive educational experience rather than a series of rotations among different specialties. Residents actively contribute to the program's evolution and are given increasing responsibility for patient care and teaching as they advance through the years.

The didactic curriculum focuses on the basic and clinical sciences of pediatrics, psychiatry, and child psychiatry. The program incorporates clinical and didactic opportunities that integrate experiences from the three specialties. There are also formal learning opportunities within each department, including morning reports, noon conferences, seminars, group supervision, individual supervision, grand rounds, journal clubs, and patient safety seminars.

Residents participate in longitudinal experiences throughout their training, including pediatric continuity clinics, psychotherapy with adult psychiatry patients, psychopharmacology and psychotherapy clinics, and specialized training in interviewing skills, primary care psychiatry, and behavioral interventions.

The application process for the Triple Board Residency Program at Brown University involves submitting applications through ERAS. Interviews are conducted virtually, and the timeline for applications and interviews is provided on the program's website.

The training sites for the program include premier health institutions in Rhode Island such as Hasbro Children's Hospital, Bradley Hospital, and various adult psychiatry training sites.

For more information about the program, applicants can visit the Brown University Triple Board Residency Program website.
