Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine Program

The Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences Residency Program at Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine offers a comprehensive training experience for medical students interested in pursuing a career in ophthalmology. The program is designed to create colleagues in both academic and private practice ophthalmology. Led by a robust faculty representing all major subspecialties of ophthalmology, residents are taught through clinics, surgery, wet-lab training, and didactics.

Residents at Montefiore Einstein have the opportunity to work with faculty providing high-quality eye care to communities in the Bronx, Westchester, and the Lower Hudson Valley. The program emphasizes early surgical training in a state-of-the-art wet lab and provides a lecture portal for flipped-classroom learning. Additional program resources to support resident well-being include on-campus furnished apartments, wellness days, team-building exercises, and social activities.

The surgical experience is structured by year, starting from basic procedures in the first year and progressing to more advanced surgeries by the third year.
