The Internal Medicine-Preventive Medicine Residency program at the University at Buffalo offers a combined, four-year training program. The first two years focus on internal medicine residency training, followed by two years of preventive medicine training. Residents will have the opportunity to integrate health and wellness promotion for individuals and populations into their clinical, academic, research, and service activities. The program boasts expert faculty mentors, comprehensive clinical training at various affiliated institutions, and the option to pursue an MPH degree in one of five concentrations or an MS degree in epidemiology.

Residents in the program engage in research, quality improvement initiatives, and a variety of activities beyond clinical work. The program is fully accredited by the ACGME and is offered in collaboration with the UB School of Public Health and Health Professions.

To apply for this combined residency program, applicants must meet the admission requirements of and be accepted by both the internal medicine and preventive medicine training programs. The program aims to prepare residents to be leaders in the current healthcare environment by providing a solid foundation of knowledge and experience in preventive medicine.
