The Diagnostic Radiology Residency program at the University of Arizona College of Medicine at South Campus is an ACGME-accredited program that spans four years. It begins after completing a 1-year ACGME-accredited clinical experience and is structured to provide a strong foundation for careers in Diagnostic Radiology, encompassing both academic and private practice settings. In the final year, residents can opt for subspecialty training blocks of different durations, with a minimum of three months guaranteed in the first-choice subspecialty. The program accepts nine Diagnostic Radiology Residents and one Integrated Interventional Radiology resident annually at the PGY II level for the four-year training. Candidates are required to undergo at least one year of ACGME-accredited clinical training (PGY I) in a clinical specialty such as surgery, internal medicine, pediatrics, or transitional year before joining the Radiology program.

Applications are accepted until November 1st each year for the program through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). The application process necessitates several requirements such as an ERAS application, dean's letter indicating satisfactory academic and clinical performance, three current letters of recommendation, school transcripts, a personal statement, and passing USMLE Step 1 and Step 2 with a minimum score of 250. For IMG applicants, an ECFMG certificate is required.

The program encourages research involvement among residents and provides opportunities to present their work at national and international conferences. Additionally, an annual Research Day event fosters collaboration and provides residents with presentation experience.
