Dominick Canady, MD

Hi, I’m Dr. Dominick Canady, a comprehensive ophthalmologist practicing in South Florida and a recent graduate of the UT Southwestern ophthalmology residency program.

I’m interested in becoming an advisor and mentoring medical students pursuing ophthalmology. I have a strong interest in medical education and mentorship, having recently been recognized by my peers and faculty as UTSW’s Resident Teacher of the Year. During residency, I also served as an instructor for the medical student ophthalmoscopy course. Prior to residency I served as President of my medical school’s Ophthalmology Interest Group and mentored more than 30 medical students.

I recently went through the ophthalmology residency application and Match process myself and have now transitioned to attending practice, I can provide students with a practical, current perspective on preparing for ophthalmology residency. I’d be particularly interested in helping students with application strategy, research and extracurricular planning, personal statements, program selection, interviews, and rank-list strategy.

I also have a strong academic and research background, including ophthalmology research at Emory and UT Southwestern, peer-reviewed publications, and presentations at national ophthalmology meetings.
