Albany Medical Center Program

Interventional radiology - independent - Albany, NY | ACGME Code: 4153542008

The Albany Medical Center Program offers an Integrated Interventional Radiology Residency aimed at providing comprehensive training for interventional radiologists. The program focuses on training residents to deliver successful patient care through safe, efficient, and quality-controlled interventional radiology techniques. Residents are trained to understand direct patient management throughout the care process, select patients for image-guided procedures, interact effectively with other specialties, and demonstrate technical proficiency in performing image-guided procedures.

The training program includes a six-year curriculum comprising a surgical internship year (PGY-1), three years of diagnostic radiology (PGY-2 to PGY-4), and two years of interventional radiology training (PGY-5 and PGY-6). The residents gain expertise in both hospital-based and office-based experiences, including procedural training and responsibilities. Additionally, on-call responsibilities, teaching responsibilities, and a focus on resident wellness and work-life balance are emphasized.

Albany Medical Center's Integrated Interventional Radiology Residency Program is fully accredited by the ACGME and offers one position per year. The program participates in the NRMP, and applications are accepted only through ERAS. Residents at Albany Medical Center have access to various resources and support systems to manage the demands of being a physician, promoting overall wellness and advocating for work-life balance.
