Brown University Program

The Neurology Residency Program at Brown University offers comprehensive training at Alpert Medical School and Rhode Island Hospital. Led by Dr. Karen Furie, the program boasts a diverse faculty covering all major subspecialties of neurology. Residents engage in clinical research, community outreach, and medical education activities. The program allows six residents per year for a total of 18 residents. Interviews are conducted virtually from November through mid-January. The residency uses the Thalamus program for scheduling interviews. Residents are not required to complete their preliminary year at Brown, although it is encouraged. The program follows the X+Y model, providing residents with a structured schedule of outpatient and inpatient rotations.

Optional tracks include the Clinician-Educator Track, Research Track, and the Brown Residency International and Global Health Training (BRIGHT) pathway. The program offers fellowships in various specialties such as Clinical Neurophysiology, Epilepsy, Multiple Sclerosis, and Movement Disorders. The program supports international medical graduates who possess a J1 visa, Green Card, or US citizenship certified through ECFMG.
