The HCA Healthcare Sunrise Health GME/Southern Hills Program offers a new ACGME-accredited Neurology Residency Program. The program is based at Southern Hills Hospital and Medical Center and is part of the HCA Healthcare Sunrise Health GME consortium. They accept 3 residents each year. Residents will have training at Southern Hills Hospital, Mountain View Medical Center, and Sunrise Children’s Hospital and Medical Center.

Eligibility requirements include US Citizens or individuals with permanent resident status, LCME and COCA Accredited Medical School Graduates, ECFMG Certificate holders, and preference for individuals who graduated from residency within 2 years. Applicants must have passed the USMLE Step 1 and 2 or COMLEX Level 1 and Level 2 in no more than 2 attempts.

The application process requires submission through ERAS. Required documents include the ERAS application, personal statement, CV, three letters of recommendation, USMLE or COMLEX score transcripts, medical school transcript, and ECFMG Certificate if indicated.

The curriculum consists of rotations in Neurology, Internal Medicine, Critical Care, ICU, Electives, and other specialties across the 3-year program. The program offers inpatient and outpatient Neurology training with a focus on various subspecialties such as Epilepsy, Neuro Muscular disorder, Sleep Medicine, and more.

The faculty includes the Program Director, Dr. Venkatachalam Veerappan, and other core faculty covering a range of specialties within Neurology.

Overall, the program aims to provide comprehensive training and educational experiences to resident applicants and endeavors to address the need for neurologists in the Las Vegas community.
