Norwalk Hospital Program

The Norwalk Hospital Radiology Residency Program provides a comprehensive and supportive environment for resident training. The program consists of 10 radiology residents with a teaching faculty of 16 fellowship-trained radiologists. Residents benefit from a robust didactic education, including lectures from attending radiologists and guest lecturers from major institutions. Residents also have the opportunity to participate in tumor boards, attend AIRP, and engage in board review courses.

Residents play a primary role in image interpretation, patient management, and procedures due to the absence of fellows, allowing them to acquire substantial clinical skills early on. Graduates are sought after for fellowship programs and attending positions. The program offers a unique blend of clinical training at a community hospital and elective rotations at Yale University in subspecialties.

The program structure includes extensive didactic lectures, weekly tumor board participation, and rotations covering all diagnostic radiology subspecialties in four-week blocks. Residents have the chance to engage in external rotations in pediatric radiology and nuclear medicine. Furthermore, residents can choose elective blocks in their fourth year for advanced clinical rotations or research opportunities.

Participation in research is encouraged, with each resident required to complete three projects during their training. The program provides support for resident research, including dedicated research rotations and coverage of presentation expenses.
