Rutgers New Jersey Medical School sponsors an integrated Plastic Surgery residency program lasting 6 years. Located in Newark, New Jersey, at University Hospital, a level 1 trauma center, the program offers rotations at various hospitals, providing a diverse range of cases. This program aims to develop future leaders in Plastic Surgery, emphasizing patient care excellence and cross-disciplinary research. Residents are encouraged to present at local, regional, national, and international meetings.

The Plastic Surgery residency follows a 6-year integrated format, with 3 years of preliminary training and 3 years of Plastic Surgery training. Applicants must pass all USMLE exams before entering the third year of residency. Residents at PGY6 or later must have an unrestricted New Jersey license.

Selection criteria for the program involve a comprehensive evaluation that includes performance in medical school, letters of recommendation, reputation of the medical school attended, USMLE scores, dedication to Plastic Surgery, and academic achievement. The application review process is conducted by the Program Director, Chief of Plastic Surgery, and other faculty members. Interviewed applicants meet with faculty members and interact with current residents.

The program received continued accreditation for the combined and integrated programs. The combined program will be phased out, with the integrated program undergoing a self-study review in 2019.

For application requirements or visa support, it is advisable to refer to the program's official website.
