St John's Episcopal Hospital-South Shore Program

The St. John's Episcopal Hospital-South Shore Program offers a three-year categorical program in Primary Internal Medicine. The program aims to produce high-quality physicians with well-rounded skills in general and sub-specialty medicine. Residents have the opportunity to gain expertise in both inpatient and outpatient care, with a focus on ambulatory care experiences at the Ambulatory Care Center.

The program provides residents with a diverse training environment, with rotations in various specialties including General Medicine, Neurology, Cardiology, and electives. Residents also have exposure to primary care and ambulatory medicine, including Adolescent Medicine, Gynecology, Behavioral Medicine, Preventive Medicine, and Public Health.

Educationally, residents benefit from clinical experience, teaching rounds, and a comprehensive lecture series in general Internal Medicine. The program also offers an extensive conference schedule, including Medical Grand Rounds and Morbidity/Mortality Conferences. Residents are encouraged to participate in medical research projects, with opportunities for clinical and laboratory research.

After completing the program, residents are well-prepared for primary care practice, hospitalist positions, or fellowship training. Many graduating residents have pursued careers in general practice across the United States or entered fellowships in various Internal Medicine subspecialties.
