The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston offers a five-year Integrated Interventional Radiology Residency Program that blends a wide array of clinical sites to train outstanding diagnostic and interventional radiologists. The program provides rotations at collaborating institutions, including Memorial Hermann, Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital, MD Anderson Cancer Center, and Texas Children's Hospital. Residents have the opportunity to work with top clinical and research institutions and receive training in trauma interventions, complex interventional oncology, pediatric IR, peripheral arterial and venous diseases, and neurointerventional experience.
The program structure involves independently pursued internship years followed by diagnostic radiology training with one IR rotation per year. During the last two years of training, residents focus on mastering clinical and procedural skills in interventional radiology. They have exposure to various procedures in areas such as arterial disease, oncology, trauma, gastrointestinal and genitourinary tracts, pain management, neurologic interventions, and more.
