This three-year fellowship program consists of one year of protected research and two clinical years, designed to progressively build fellows' skills in the diagnosis, treatment, and practice of gynecologic malignancies. Throughout their training, fellows accumulate significant experience across various aspects of gynecologic oncology, culminating in an average of 300 surgeries as primary surgeons and 400 cases as assistants by the end of each clinical year 1.
Curriculum
The curriculum is robust and comprehensive, providing a thorough educational foundation. The training modules include:
- PGY-5: 12 Blocks of Research

Educational experiences include weekly didactic lectures, multi-disciplinary conferences, tumor boards, morbidity and mortality conferences, and a journal club. Additionally, fellows have access to the Nicholson Center, known for its innovative surgical simulation training 1.
Research Opportunities
Research is an integral component of the fellowship. Fellows engage in numerous projects that not only enhance their skillsets but also contribute to advancements in gynecologic oncology. They have participated in over 100 national clinical trials and have presented their findings at esteemed national and international conferences. The Center for Academic Research Excellence (CARE) offers guidance through academic mentorship, supported by a team comprising biostatisticians and a medical editor, ensuring fellows receive multifaceted support for their research endeavors 1.
