The Internal Medicine Residency Program at Anne Arundel Medical Center is designed to offer a comprehensive and well-structured training experience for medical graduates seeking to pursue a career in internal medicine. In the first year (PGY-1), residents can expect approximately 16 weeks on general medical floors, with additional rotations including VA, ICU, continuity clinics, and night float. The subsequent years further develop their skills with varied experiences across subspecialties, intensive care, and outpatient services.

The residency's curriculum includes a well-defined rotation schedule. For example, a typical structure for PGY-1 residents includes:

• General Medical Floors: 16 weeks
• VA Rotation: 4 weeks
• Intensive Care Unit: 8 weeks
• Continuity Clinic: 10-11 weeks
• Night Float: 4 weeks
• Subspecialty/Elective: 6 weeks

As residents advance to PGY-2 and PGY-3 years, they spend time in specialized rotations like admitter rotations and further develop their skills through comprehensive elective experiences.

Residents have protected time for daily educational conferences that cover a wide range of topics including clinical reasoning, grand rounds, and morbidity & mortality sessions. This allows for continuous professional growth and integration of knowledge into practice.
