The University of Maryland Capital Region Health Internal Medicine Residency Program, located in Largo, MD, offers an inviting opportunity for medical students aiming to specialize in internal medicine. Curriculum

The residency utilizes a 4+2 block system, separating inpatient and ambulatory rotations. PGY-1 to PGY-3 years have specified rotations, including ICU, general floors, Nights, Emergency Medicine, and a significant amount of time in ambulatory clinic settings. The program also includes diverse elective opportunities within UM Capital or the broader University of Maryland system.

Scholarly Work

Residents are encouraged to engage in scholarly work, with opportunities to present at Regional ACP meetings and participate in the Doctor's Dilemma competition. The program recently had a strong representation at the National ACP meeting, highlighting its commitment to academic excellence.

Eligible applicants include expected graduates of accredited U.S. and Canadian medical schools and International Medical Graduates who are ECFMG certified. The program supports candidates requiring work authorization with a J-1 visa. The program does not have strict criteria regarding Step/COMLEX scores or graduation year for IMGs but prefers recent graduates with US Clinical Experience.
