The BIDMC Division of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at Harvard Medical School is proud to offer a comprehensive residency program with a focus on various subspecialties, including head and neck surgical oncology, microvascular reconstruction, laryngology, rhinology, otology, facial plastic and reconstruction, and pediatric otolaryngology. They provide a robust clinical experience along with research support through the FIRST program at BIDMC.
Application deadline for all application documents for the program in ERAS is October 20, with interviews scheduled for December and January. The program selects interns through the National Resident Matching Program. They have faculty involved in various research projects to support the academic growth of their trainees.
Residents have the opportunity to participate in clinical rotations at BIDMC and Boston Children's Hospital, offering exposure to a wide range of otolaryngology specialties. The curriculum follows the Comprehensive Otolaryngologic Curriculum Learning through Interactive Approach (COCLIA), and residents have dedicated education time on Wednesdays.
Residents are required to complete six months of research time, during which they will work with dedicated research mentors to develop independent projects. Ongoing research projects within the program cover areas such as laryngology, otology/neurotology, head and neck/plastic and reconstructive surgery, rhinology, and education research in simulation.
