CarePoint Health/New York Medical College (Hoboken) Program

The Family Medicine Residency program at CarePoint Health/New York Medical College at Hoboken University Medical Center is committed to training residents to become the best family physicians. The program receives over a thousand applications annually and selects eight residents each year who can work well together as a team. They prefer highly motivated individuals who are enthusiastic about patient care, honest, self-reflective, and willing to work hard.

Application requirements include submitting through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS), preferably having USMLE scores over 220, and graduating from medical school within the last five years. Three letters of recommendation are required, including one from a family physician. US clinical experience is preferred but not mandatory.

The curriculum offers a comprehensive background in Family Medicine, including inpatient and ambulatory care experiences in various settings. Residents are encouraged to develop strong doctor-patient relationships through continuity care, home visits, and nursing home care.

The program fosters a supportive learning environment through various educational components such as conferences, workshops, journal clubs, and research opportunities. Residents are expected to pursue scholarly activities and present their work at hospital Grand Rounds and other venues.
