Cleveland Clinic Foundation/South Pointe Hospital Program

The South Pointe Internal Medicine program at Cleveland Clinic Foundation is a distinguished three-year program accredited by ACGME with Osteopathic Recognition. It emphasizes an evidence-based approach to train residents in a personalized, patient-centered manner, focusing on the biological, social, and emotional aspects of healthcare. Residents have the opportunity to interpret recommended studies and engage in interdisciplinary team approaches to healthcare delivery.

The program incorporates ACGME Core Competencies and includes rotations in both inpatient and outpatient settings, with residents maintaining ACLS and BLS certifications throughout their residency. The program offers diverse didactic sessions, including morning reports, lectures, critical care rounds, board reviews, and journal clubs. Residents also staff a Primary Care Residency Continuity Clinic.

The curriculum includes rotations in Internal Medicine/Hospital Wards, Outpatient Medicine, ICU, Cardiology, Emergency Medicine, Geriatrics, and various electives across PGY-1, PGY-2, and PGY-3 levels. Didactic sessions cover a range of topics, including outpatient lectures, ICU progressive cases, M&M conferences, and rapid response/ACLS lectures. Additionally, committees for resident participation enhance learning experiences.

The faculty at South Pointe comprises experienced professionals specializing in various fields such as Internal Medicine, Gastroenterology, Medical Oncology, and Neurology. The program also offers opportunities for elective rotations at Cleveland Clinic main campus and access to several rounds and grand rounds.

South Pointe Internal Medicine program focuses on resident wellness, offering monthly wellness activities to ensure a supportive and balanced environment during residency training.
