Western Reserve Hospital Program

The Western Reserve Hospital Internal Medicine Residency program aims to train competent, compassionate internal medicine residents to serve the local community. The program is ACGME-certified and participates in the NRMP match, accepting both allopathic and osteopathic candidates. Candidates are expected to have solid scores, integrity, and the ability to work effectively in a team. The program primarily seeks candidates interested in a community hospital training experience and who aim to work in Northeast Ohio.

For application criteria, candidates must be from accredited medical schools in the US or Canada (LCME) or colleges of osteopathic medicine in the US (AOA). Graduates from medical schools outside the US or Canada require a valid certificate from the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates. The program requires a passing score of 196 for USMLE Step 1 and 400 COMLEX Step 1, with multiple attempts accepted. The program does not mandate US clinical experience and accepts applicants authorized to work in the US, as well as those with J1 visas.

The program requires two letters of recommendation, with a chair's letter not obligatory. The Director of the Internal Medicine Residency program at Western Reserve Hospital is Dr. Todd Lisy, a board-certified internist and pediatrician.

The curriculum at Western Reserve Hospital focuses on producing competent physicians for inpatient and outpatient settings.
