The Pathology-anatomic and clinical residency program at Detroit Medical Center/Wayne State University is a four-year ACGME-accredited combined training program that offers instruction in clinical diagnosis, diagnostic techniques, and experimental pathology. Residents must also pass USMLE Step 3 by the end of their second year.
For competitive applications, it is recommended for IMG applicants to complete Step 3 prior to applying. The program reviews applications from September through November, and applicants are encouraged to apply early for consideration.
The program does not have specific cut-off dates for graduation, but successful applicants typically apply within 10 years of graduating from medical school.
Visa matters are handled by the Office of Graduate Medical Education of the Detroit Medical Center (DMC). As of 2018, a J-1 visa is mandatory for applicants to the program.
