The Anesthesiology Residency Program at Houston Methodist Hospital (HMH) is a comprehensive 4-year categorical program aimed at preparing residents to excel in various clinical environments. Curriculum Structure

The residency consists of a Clinical Base Year (CBY) followed by three years of focused anesthesiology training (CA-1 through CA-3).

Clinical Base Year (CBY)

During the first year, residents will undergo fundamental clinical training focused on internal medicine. All rotations will be conducted at HMH, covering various specialties such as pulmonology, nephrology, cardiology, critical care, and emergency medicine, among others 2.

Clinical Anesthesia Training

The CA-1 year initiates anesthesia-specific training, including a comprehensive mentorship experience with an attending anesthesiologist, six months in the operating rooms, and early rotations in obstetric and neuroanesthesia.
