The Mass General Brigham Program offers a comprehensive Cardiothoracic Surgery Residency Program at Massachusetts General Hospital. The program aims to prepare trainees for independent practice in cardiothoracic surgery without requiring additional postgraduate fellowship training. Separate cardiac and thoracic tracks are available within the program, allowing for specialized training in either field. Both conventional and 4+3 pathways are offered.

The program offers a standardized didactic curriculum covering both cardiac and thoracic topics, tailored clinical rotations based on residents' subspecialty interests, and exposure to cutting-edge clinical trials in thoracic oncology. Residents will receive a diverse clinical experience in both cardiac and thoracic surgery.
To apply, candidates must have successfully completed a five-year ACGME-accredited general surgery residency program in the United States or Canada. The application process is through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) and National Resident Matching Program (NRMP). An interview with the program director and cardiothoracic faculty at Mass General is part of the selection process.
