The Interventional Radiology Integrated Residency program at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center is designed to train physicians in both Diagnostic Radiology (DR) and Interventional Radiology (IR). It consists of an internship year followed by three years of DR training and two years of IR training, resulting in a combined IR/DR certificate from the American Board of Radiology upon successful completion of a final certification exam.
The program offers two positions for the IR Integrated Residency program in the Match. Residents will engage in various clinical rotations covering core diagnostic sub-specialties, interventional radiology, and procedural rotations. Additionally, there are educational activities, including diagnostic lecture series, monthly IR Journal Clubs, and IR Case Conferences.
Starting in the PGY-5 year, residents will focus on Interventional Radiology service, spending time in IR-related rotations, ICU, and vascular surgery, and performing procedures in IR suites. There will be a total of 24 blocks of IR rotations before graduation, fulfilling ACGME requirements.
Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center has newly renovated interventional radiology facilities, including angiography suites, CT procedure suites, and ultrasound equipment. The IR section emphasizes collaboration with other specialties and providing high-quality patient care.
The application process includes submitting a complete ERAS application, USMLE scores (if available), transcripts, MSPE, curriculum vitae, and three letters of recommendation through ERAS. The program requires completing a preliminary year in medicine, surgery, or a transitional program as mandated by the American Board of Radiology.
For salary and benefits, BIDMC offers competitive compensation with additional benefits such as health insurance, educational funds, book funds, and travel expenses.
If interested in interventional radiology at a program that values diversity and inclusion and offers a comprehensive educational experience, the IR Integrated Residency program at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center may be a suitable choice.
