The Harvard Combined Dermatology Residency Program, which includes Massachusetts General Hospital, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, and Brigham and Women's Hospital, offers a comprehensive three-year training program leading to eligibility for certification by the American Board of Dermatology. Residents rotate through various affiliated hospitals, including Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Brigham and Women's Hospital, Children's Hospital Medical Center, and others, gaining experience in skin disorders and treatments for both adults and children.
The curriculum includes basic dermatologic training in ambulatory care units with supervision from staff attendings. Specialty clinics focus on areas such as tumors, pigmented lesions, pediatric dermatoses, immunologic diseases, surgery, and laser medicine. There is an emphasis on academic development, research, and encouragement for pursuing clinical or laboratory research careers.
The program participates in the National Residency Match Program (NRMP) with applications done through ERAS. Requirements include at least three letters of recommendation, a Dean's letter, transcript, USMLE Board Scores, CV, and Personal Statement. The Admissions Committee thoroughly reviews completed applications, with interviews granted by invitation only.
