Mercy Catholic Medical Center Program

The Diagnostic Radiology Residency Program at Mercy Catholic Medical Center (MCMC) offers 10 residency positions focused on training efficient, high-quality radiologists. Residents receive training at Mercy Fitzgerald in Darby, Pa., and also at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia for pediatric radiology. The program prides itself on an intimate one-on-one relationship between faculty and residents, fostering a friendly, supportive, and intellectually stimulating environment.

Residents gain hands-on experience interpreting a wide range of diagnostic cases and performing various interventional procedures across all imaging modalities including Angiography, CT, Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine, PET, Mammography, MRI, and more. The program provides daily educational lectures, case conferences, resident symposia, and physics lectures to prepare residents for the Core Exam.

There are no fellows in the program, allowing residents to engage in substantial research projects. As a fully ACGME-approved program, residents have succeeded in passing the Core Exam and pursuing top-tier fellowships. The Transitional Year Residency Program is linked to Diagnostic Radiology Residency, providing a seamless transition for incoming residents.

The curriculum is thoughtfully structured with rotations in Body CT, MRI, Chest radiography, Ultrasound, Neuroradiology, and other key areas. The program ensures a balance of rotations across the four years, culminating in the opportunity for residents to focus on specific areas of interest in their final year.

Daily educational activities include read-out sessions, procedural experience, and involvement in interdisciplinary conferences. Resident call responsibilities start in the first year, progressing to night float duties in the second year. The program emphasizes resident independence and learning through case interpretation.
