The Radiology Residency Program at Monmouth Medical Center is a four-year diagnostic radiology program that focuses on training physicians in the latest imaging techniques and technology. Graduates are prepared for competitive post-residency fellowships or entering private practice. The program has a strong history of training radiologists and offers a well-established post-graduate educational and research environment.
The faculty at Monmouth Medical Center consists of 11 board-certified radiologists, including faculty members who are double-board certified in nuclear medicine and a board-certified medical imaging physicist. The faculty members are fellowship trained from leading university programs.
Residents in the program have the opportunity to participate in various rotations through different divisions of the department, focusing on general film interpretation in areas such as gastrointestinal, genitourinary, musculoskeletal, and chest radiology. Residents are encouraged to consult with referring clinicians, enhancing communication and collaboration between the department, private physicians, and patients.
Monmouth Medical Center residents have the opportunity to participate in Interventional Radiology early in their training, emphasizing pre- and post-procedure preparation and protocols. Residents gradually increase their independence as they develop skills in performing various studies.
The program boasts an excellent fellowship match rate, with 90% of residents pursuing a fellowship in a sub-specialty upon graduation. Recent fellowship placements include institutions such as University of Florida, RWJBarnabas Health, University of Southern California, New York University, and Stanford University, among others.
Residents at Monmouth Medical Center are supported through various academic and hospital activities, including journal clubs, residency committees, teaching conferences, physics lectures, and interdepartmental conferences. The program offers residents a well-rounded educational experience to prepare them for their careers in radiology.
Monmouth Medical Center's Radiology Residency Program also offers residents a vibrant resident life, located near the New Jersey Shore, providing access to outdoor activities and a relaxed atmosphere. The program has a total of 12 residents and was recently granted ACGME approval to permanently increase the size to 3 per year.
Please note that the Monmouth Medical Center Radiology Residency Program no longer recruits new residents directly. Instead, future residents will officially match into the Rutgers Health/Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson (RWJMS) Radiology Program.
