The MHC Healthcare Family Medicine Residency Program is a 4-4-4, 3-year ACGME accredited program located in Tucson, Arizona. The program is designed to train highly competent Family Medicine Primary Care Physicians to provide compassionate, evidence-based, innovative, and cost-effective healthcare to diverse and medically underserved populations. Residents will gain experience in providing whole person care in a team-based approach that is compassionate and patient-centered.
Residents at MHC Healthcare will provide comprehensive outpatient primary care at MHC's Ina Clinic, the Family Medicine Practice site. The clinic is integrated, allowing residents to collaborate with other specialties such as Behavioral Health, Dental, Pharmacy, Radiology, and Lab services.
The program emphasizes resident wellbeing and offers a supportive learning environment. The faculty is dedicated to providing individualized training to meet the specific learning needs of each resident. Residents have the opportunity to enhance their unique abilities and develop meaningful relationships with patients and faculty.
MHC Healthcare, the organization behind the residency program, is known as the oldest community health center in Arizona. It serves over 55,000 patients annually and provides comprehensive primary care services, including Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, OBGYN, Pediatrics, Behavioral Health Services, Dental Care, and Pharmacy.

Application criteria for the residency program include passing USMLE Step 1 or COMLEX, passing USMLE Step 2 or COMLEX Step 2 before rank order list submission, and having ECFMG Certification for international medical graduate applicants. Preferred criteria include a clear interest and commitment to family medicine, serving underserved communities, a valid Fingerprint Clearance Card, and current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Applicants must have graduated from medical school within the last two years, and the program does not sponsor J-1 Visa applicants.
