STEP 214

The Dignity Health East Valley Family Medicine Residency Program presents a comprehensive training platform designed for those looking to pioneer the future model of Family Medicine. Emphasizing leadership, the program trains residents to not only become competent physicians but also leaders in the medical community. The training includes a mix of in-clinic practical learning, theoretical knowledge, and research opportunities, supported by a state-of-the-art Family Medicine Residency Practice Center and collaborations such as with the Phoenix Children’s Hospital.

The program is built around resident wellness, with initiatives and retreats in place to maintain balance through the intensive years of residency. It offers a two-week mini-block rotation system to minimize fatigue and maximize learning, ensuring residents get hands-on, practical experience in a range of settings that reflect the diverse needs of the community.

Research is a key component, with residents required to undertake scholarly activities, including a quality improvement project and a choice of research project. The program is structured to provide ample faculty support for these projects, fostering an environment of academic inquiry and collaboration.

The faculty is composed of seasoned professionals chosen for their commitment to teaching, patient care, and development of future leaders in Family Medicine. Each resident gets the opportunity to work closely with a faculty advisor and mentor, ensuring personalized guidance and support.

The program does not sponsor visas, and applicants must have successfully passed USMLE Step 1 and Step 2 or COMLEX Level 1 and Level 2 to be considered.

This residency is positioned in a metropolitan area, combining urban living with access to nature and outdoor activities, aiming to produce well-rounded, capable family medicine physicians who are prepared to lead and innovate in their field.
