Memorial Medical Center (Las Cruces) Program

The Southern New Mexico Family Medicine Residency Program, often referred to as the Memorial Medical Center Family Medicine Residency, is a well-established training program that has been providing residents with comprehensive medical education since 1996. The program is designed to train full-spectrum family physicians, promoting community-oriented care, health equity, and social justice in a supportive learning environment, thus addressing the healthcare needs of Southern New Mexico and West Texas.

Residents gain exposure to integrated behavioral medicine as part of their training, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to address both physical and mental health concerns of patients.

The structure of the residency includes a night float system, core didactic conferences with protected time, and four months allocated for elective rotations. Evening and weekend coverage is typically managed through a well-organized schedule aimed at preventing burnout and providing adequate rest for residents.

Salary and Benefits: The compensation structure is designed to support residents financially throughout their training. The PGY-1 salary begins at $54,600, scaling up to $59,300 by the third year. Residents also have access to continuing medical education (CME) reimbursements, health and dental insurance, and other benefits, including vacation, professional liability coverage, and licenses.
