Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine Program

This program at Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine offers a comprehensive Internal Medicine Residency program. The Internal Medicine residency welcomes 39 categorical interns, 10 primary care/social internal medicine interns, and 25 categorical preliminary interns each year. The program emphasizes providing a supportive and collegial environment for residents to receive outstanding clinical training in both inpatient and ambulatory settings.

Application Deadline: Applications are accepted through December 1st of the year prior to matriculation. Candidates must apply through ERAS, listed under Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine (Moses and Weiler campuses).

Interviews: Applicants are considered for interviews based on their overall academic record and clinical performance. There are no specific USMLE cut-off scores, and interviews run from November through January by invitation only. In the 2020-2021 application cycle, all interviews will be conducted virtually.

International Applicants: Applications from international medical graduates are selectively considered. Applicants must have obtained a medical degree within 3 years of application, demonstrating continued clinical work or scholarly/research activity. ECFMG certification is required before submitting a rank list.

Visa Sponsorship: Montefiore Medical Center sponsors J-1 and H-1B visas. ECFMG certification must be valid by March 1st of the application year for sponsorship.

Program Features: - Rotations follow a 6 + 2 schedule, with a detailed breakdown for each postgraduate year. - The program features a firm system, providing a close-knit community within the larger program. - A Housestaff Committee on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion works to build community among underrepresented minority residents and fellows.

Location: Montefiore Medical Center offers housing options in the Bronx and Riverdale. Residents can also choose to live in Manhattan, Queens, New Jersey, or lower Westchester County. A shuttle service is provided between campuses.
