As the University Hospital for Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Montefiore offers a comprehensive five-year ACGME-accredited program across seven hospitals, including exposure to various clinical settings such as tertiary care and Level 1 trauma center.

With 10 categorical positions and approximately 74 trainees at a time, this program is one of the largest in the United States. The residency follows current trends by focusing on developing surgical specialists in specific areas including general, endocrine, colorectal, minimally invasive, and more. Residents have the opportunity to work alongside leading specialists and gain hands-on experience in diverse clinical areas.

At the end of the program, most residents go on to pursue fellowships or specialized training programs at prestigious institutions. The department also offers virtual tours for applicants interested in the program.
