Overview of the Program

The Naples Comprehensive Health Program in Critical Care Medicine is affiliated with the NCH Healthcare System and aims to deliver a comprehensive training experience in internal medicine with a strong emphasis on critical care. Having commenced its residency training in 2017, the program has established a solid academic foundation through collaboration with the University of Central Florida, ensuring that residents benefit from extensive academic support and resources throughout their training.

Curriculum and Rotations

Residents gain exposure across various subspecialties, including critical care, and participate in multidisciplinary team rounding within the state-of-the-art adult medical critical care unit, which comprises 22 beds equipped with advanced technology.

Residents' schedules are structured around inpatient wards primarily located at the downtown NCH campus. The educational experience is organized into 13 blocks across the year, which includes rotating responsibilities to ensure a diverse clinical exposure. Interns experience both short and long calls, while senior residents manage night floats and on-call responsibilities, fostering teamwork and clinical proficiency.

Research Opportunities

Research is an integral component of the residency experience, with numerous opportunities for residents to engage in various projects. The program encourages residents to partake in scholarly activities that include not only clinical research but also quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing patient care within the NCH healthcare facilities.

Visa Support and Sponsorship

The program extends visa sponsorship services specifically for J1 visa applicants. Importantly, H1B visas are not an option for candidates seeking residency within the program. This focus allows international medical graduates (IMGs) to pursue their specialized training in a supportive environment. Competitiveness and Application Requirements

The Naples Comprehensive Health Program in Critical Care Medicine is characterized by its competitive nature, particularly due to its strong affiliations and comprehensive training programs. Applicants must align with specific requirements, including having graduated from medical school within the past five years and demonstrating successful passage of crucial examinations such as USMLE Steps 1 and 2 or COMLEX Levels 1 and 2 on the first attempt. A minimum score of 220 on USMLE Step 2 and 500 on COMLEX Level 2 is also mandated for consideration.
