OhioHealth/Riverside Methodist Hospital Program

The Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship at OhioHealth Riverside Methodist Hospital is designed to train fellows to become clinically proficient, educationally capable, and leadership-ready in a growing and important field. Program Overview

This fellowship aims to create well-rounded clinicians who can handle the complexities of hospice and palliative care, addressing both adult and pediatric patient needs across various settings, which include outpatient and inpatient clinics. Fellows will learn about numerous modalities of care from a multidisciplinary faculty, which includes experts from acupuncture, internal medicine, oncology, geriatrics, emergency medicine, and more 1.

Curriculum

The curriculum is structured around both clinical exposure and didactic learning. Within the first year, fellows are expected to engage in rotations at diverse care settings within the OhioHealth system. This includes experience at key sites such as the 850-bed Riverside Methodist Hospital, the 350-bed Grant Medical Center serving urban populations, and a 32-bed acute hospice inpatient facility named Kobacker House 1.

Fellows will also have opportunities to participate in the OhioHealth Hospice program, which serves over 600 patients daily, and engage actively in bereavement services, offering comprehensive emotional support to families 1.

A significant aspect of the fellowship involves scholarly projects where fellows must complete a research project and present it at a Grand Rounds.
